First things first.

Let me start off by telling you about this man named Jesus. It is because of His great love that I sit here covered in grace, able to cast all my burdens onto Him because He cares for me. Our journey over the past year and a half has proven to be one of the most trying times of our lives. Thankfully, we serve a faithful God who knows our hearts and invites us to the best kind of life. We believe that the best kind of life means we pursue the things God cares about, even if it means allowing Him into the depths of our hearts, to a place of utmost intimacy. The Lord has done an amazing work in us and brought us to this place of waiting, trusting, dreaming, and praying. Sometimes we believe we know best, that our plans will be better, if only He would just let us run with them. I have mistaken God’s “Plan A” for a cheap, imitation “Plan B”. You were who He had in mind all along. This story of us meeting began in our hearts only a short time ago…but I have a feeling it was stirring in Heaven long before I even knew to pray for you.

I want you to know that you, my child, are highly anticipated. Grammy and Papa Gebhardt, Grandma Martin, your aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends are all very excited about your arrival. We have already met with the woman at Christian Family Care Agency who will be helping us find each other. The paperwork has begun and classes to prepare us begin in two weeks! This is a special story that God is writing just for us. You are on my mind always and I pray for you when I think of you. You could be kicking around in a tummy right now so I pray that you are being taken care of. I ask God to knit you together in His image, that you would be the miracle we’ve waited for. I trust that when this story unfolds, there will be an ending far greater than we could have ever imagined!

Good night, baby.

Love,

Mommy

I am praying for the blessing you will be to a birth-mom someday. Thank you for sharing this journey us. Abundant blessings to you!

What incredible love letters to your future child..though I could hardly read for the tears in my eyes. My mother and her twin brother were adopted out at 2 years old when their parents died, so I have always had a soft spot for adoptees and the people who adopt them. I do hope you keep us updated. You will certainly be in our prayers.
