About the adoption

Hey everyone, welcome to our baby blog. We’re adopting a baby, and this is how we’re going to keep all of you in the loop. We’ll be writing letters to our baby, who as of now, we’ve never met. Baby Guard may be in someone’s belly right now! We’re at the beginning of the adoption process :)

We are so, so excited about working with Christian Family Care. Our baby will be born right here in Arizona. The crazy thing is that there might be a pregnant woman out there right now with Baby Guard. We’re open to a boy or a girl (we both have this weird feeling that it’ll be a girl). We’ve always wanted to adopt our first child but when we were surprised with a pregnancy in the Fall of 2008 we put those plans on the back burner. Our first baby passed away 10 weeks into Lindsay’s pregnancy and we have been left with an empty place in our lives since then. God has given us a renewed desire to follow our original dreams, so here we go!

We would love your prayers through all of this too. Pray for the baby and birth mom, wherever they are, that God would protect them and give them hope. Pray for our hearts, since this process will probably have some ups and downs.

In case we’ve never met, please feel free to track us down on Facebook (Lindsay, Ryan) or on our blogs (Lindsay, Ryan).

UPDATE!!! I drew a line through all of the details up there that are false or incomplete now. We have been matched! We have visited the birth parents and their families. They live in Santa Clarita, so we were wrong about Arizona, but that’s definitely OK! It’s a boy, and we know his name but that’ll be a surprise. His first name has 7 letters, have fun guessing. Now you’re up to date!

BIGGER UPDATE!!! Say hello to Griffin Isaac Guard, born November 14th. He’s home with us now :)

How amazing! I am so excited for you and your family. I can’t imagine another couple who carries more love and compassion than you two. I look forward to reading your letters and can’t wait to see your lives blossom with such a blessing as this.

Lindsay, it was so wonderful to meet you tonight at the Sleeping At Last show. Thanks so much for letting me eavesdrop on your conversation with Kim and then tolerate my butting in. I am so committed to praying with you guys through this adventure, what an amazing Jesus-centered story you get to write in the months and years to come. Losing a child and adopting a new one into your family will give you such an amazing understanding of God’s pain and love for us. Embrace the whole experience (and look forward to meeting the first Baby Guard in heaven).

    Much love.

    Lindsay,

What a beautiful story! I am so excited for you and Ryan as you pursue God’s plan for building your family. Baby Guard has such a great start already, with all the love and anticipation waiting for him or her. And I know you will meet your little baby Guard in Heaven, where my husband and I will meet our little angel as well.

What an awesome story! Our family will be praying the best for the both of you two and that He will give you the strength to endure this process. I, too, have lost 3 precious babies and it was hard, but God has given us 2 wonderful children and we could not be happier. God always has a plan and sometimes we don’t need to know. God Bless!
